(UNIT 3) 5. Thriller Themes

 In this short film trailer there are many themes we could pick out. The three themes i will be choosing are; fear, crime and revenge.
The key theme is fear as we can see it circulate throughout the whole trailer. At 0:30 we see the girl really scared from the people that broke in and are kidnapping her friend. You also see the fear , at 0:45 when it is a collage of the daughter, the father and shoes which belong to the kidnapper. The first two pictures connote the fear rushing through both of them as one of them is scared of being kidnapped and the other is fearing he will lose his daughter.

We also experience a huge crime that also runs throughout the whole trailer as we understand and is connoted through the kidnapping which is a big crime to commit.
The revenge is not really revenge but in a sense it is as the protagonist wants to rescue his daughter and her friend from kidnappers and it is sort of revenge as the antagonist wants to claim back whats really personal to him and he then wants to harm the antagonists.

The theme effects the audience in a huge way as it creates a little enigma for the fact that we never get to see the antagonist and where the friend and daughter have been taken to and also it gives the audience a feel of sorrow as it is sad that the daughter has been taken and it is the mans job to try and get her back.
In my trailer i was going to add fear in a sort of comedic way by having one of the characters that is really scared of ghosts, phasmaphobia, and it is funny as he does it in a funny tone and also his friend always tries to take the mick out of him. I was also thinking about adding the theme of revenge as in one of the characters had done something bad previously and something has come back to haunt him as a sign of revenge.
